There are two new sunscreens on the block and the lovely folks over at Kinfield gifted some tubes for me to to test out so I can share a skincare deep dive with y'all! Daily Dew vs Sunglow Daily Dew is a mineral based suncreen with a classic creamy white consistency. It's 100% mineral, broad-spectrum SPF 35 and water resistant. Daily Dew $26 for 2 oz at Kinfield.com or available on Amazon here. Sunglow $28 for 2oz at Kinfield.com or available on Amazon here. Sunglow is also 100% mineral, broad-spectrum SPF 35 but is not water resistant. It comes out of the tube a shimmery peach and after application fades down to a subtle pink glow. These are both sold as facial sunscreens but can be used all other the body as well. Both formulas have the same light fragrance of "Bergamot, Mandarin, Petitgrain, and Pink Grapefruit and Lime notes". I usually turn tail and run from fragranced skincare (card carrying member of the sensitive skin committee here) and I was pleasantly surprised at the subtleness of the fragrance in these formulas. Both have extremely light scents that fade quickly after application and I experienced zero irritation or breakouts which I've frequently experienced after using other fragranced skincare in the past. Daily Dew (left) and Sunglow (right) Kinfield Daily Dew & Sunglow Review The tint of sunglow straight out of the bottle looks like it will result in a very pink tone but after application it turns into an almost imperceptible glow. There is mica in the formula which provides a very minimal shimmer (no glittery vampire skin here). Wearing Sunglow Sunglow I did run into some trouble with Sunglow during application. A delicate hand is required when applying this or it will start to pill up into dark colored clumps. I also unfortunately experienced major pilling when I tried to reapply after two hours. I love the subtle shimmer but having to walk on eggshells while re-applying was a bummer. If you gently dot the sunscreen evenly around the face and quickly massage it into the skin you can avoid pilling but if you go back in, or continue rubbing it into your skin for longer than 30 seconds it starts to misbehave. Luckily I've had quite a bit of practice at making pilling prone skincare behave so I was able to wrangle it into submission for the most part. This would be a great way to get a little shimmer on your skin for an evening out to dinner where you aren't worried about reapplication but if you are heading out for a long day in the sun or if you are layering with makeup I would not pick Sunglow for the job. Daily Dew would be a great alternative for longer bouts of fun in the sun! Turning back to Daily Dew, the application was a breeze and re-application was super easy as well. This water resistant formula is a slightly thicker cream that smooths onto the skin easily. It feels slightly heavier on the skin and I can definitely tell that I have something on, but that's to be expected with a water resistant sunscreen. Daily Dew It also didn't leave me feeling sticky which is a common issue with water resistant formulas while giving a slightly hydrating effect which was very nice. Daily Dew passed the "will it make my eyes water" when I inevitably rub my eyes throughout the day test with flying colors which is a major win in my book! I'm currently trying my darndest to wear sunscreen more often and cultivate a habit to apply it whenever I'm headed outside. Having these two lovely options in my skincare collection will definitely push me towards that goal.
