Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream Review

I’ve got all the dirty details in this Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream Review for y’all today!

The Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel is one of many Cica products in the Korean skincare brand Dr. Jart’s Cicapair skincare collection. The Cicapair collection revolves around its star ingredient cia a.k.a centella asiatica.

Cica is one of my all-time favorite ingredients because it can stimulate collagen production which helps tissue regeneration, speed up wound healing, and can fade acne scars as well! Check out my in-depth guide on centella asiatica for acne-prone skin here.

Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream Review: The Formula

The calming gel-cream is tinted pale mint and has a medium-thick gel consistency. Gel creams are my personal favorite skincare consistency because they glide onto the skin easily, a little goes a long way, and the hydration tends to last all day long.

Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream Review: The Formula

There aren’t many concerning ingredients in this formula. I’ve highlighted lavender oil, bergamot oil, and yarrow extract as three components that I don’t like seeing in my skincare. I’ve linked each extract to more information on why these are harmful in skincare. Click them if you’d like to learn more!

I’m a huge fan of centella asiatica because it’s awesome for healing acne-prone skin. I was excited to try this cica gel cream because I’ve had good luck with cica skincare but while I combed through this insanely long ingredient list I discovered that centella asiatica is literally the last ingredient on this list…..

Ingredients under 1% can be listed in any order on these lists per the FDA, but it’s still disheartening to see less than 1% used of an ingredient that’s being called out in the name of the product itself.

My overall rating for Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream:

  • Packaging- 5/5 Stars
  • Price- Lowest current price: $48.00 for 1.69 oz. 3/5 Stars
  • Formula- 3/5 Stars
  • Effectiveness- 3/5 Stars
  • Fragrance-Free?- No
  • Cruelty-Free?- Yes
  • Vegan?- Yes

Is it Fragrance-Free?

This gel-cream does not have added synthetic fragrance but it does, unfortunately, contain multiple fragrant flower/fruit oils. It has a noticeable faint citrusy herbal scent but this quickly dissipates after it’s applied to the skin.

I personally believe the reason that citrusy fragrances are so common in skincare is due to the fresh, clean, and natural aesthetic they instantly bring to mind. I personally love orange and lime scents so it’s hard for me not to be influenced by just the scent alone. Try to keep this in mind when testing skincare. It’s usually not a good thing if you can smell a noticeable fragrance in your product.

Try Before You Buy

I highly recommend snagging a sample before fully leaping in and spending $48 on a whole tube of the Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream. Sephora is a great resource for trying out skincare products, you can request three samples per day of any product (no purchase necessary!).

I always sample spendy skincare products to ensure my skin does not have a reaction and to avoid the hassle of returning a disappointing purchase.

Is Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream Worth It?

I was pleasantly surprised by the results I saw while testing the gel cream. It left my skin feeling refreshed and moisturized throughout the entire day. It layered nicely with the other skincare products in my routine and it absorbed into my skin quickly. This would play well under foundation as well!

My only complaint with the Tiger Grass gel is I wish it didn’t have such a strong fragrance. I love cica skincare but with a $48.00 price tag I can’t ignore so many sensitizing ingredients. I didn’t experience any reactions or breakouts during my testing period but this fragranced product could cause issues down the road. Your skin is very talented at hiding irritation! It can sometimes take months to realize a fragranced product is actually sneakily wreaking havoc on your face.
